Welcome to R Street!

R Street

R Street, or the R Street historic district, is an underrated location in Sacramento. There are many things to do and places to eat here! Though I have spent my whole life here, I only discovered R Street in my second year of high school. I stumbled into one of the buildings there called the WAL. The building is an apartment complex for artists, but the first floor has a combination of shops and places to eat! To name a few, there is a record store, a vintage clothing store, a poke bar! The vintage clothing store is called Old Gold and is actually where I got my first job!

The community of R Street is definitely one that is filled with all kinds of creative individuals. There is a lot to do there and looking at the amazing, original brick exterior is a major plus! Every first Friday of the month, the WAL holds an event called First Friday where they feature an artist’s work and all of the artists who live in the building open their doors and welcome anyone who wants to see or buy their artwork!

If you are interested in supporting local artists, R Street is definitely the palace to be, especially on the first fridays of the month!
